David Eddy & Heather Neilson: New Work

Reception for the Artists
Saturday, August 22, 5–7pm

Long time gallery artist David Eddy creates semi-abstract figurative, still life, and landscape paintings full of raw energy and emotion, exhibiting a sophistication of color, marks, and composition. Self taught, Eddy pours a palpable raw energy into his painting-often chasing after images that reveal themselves during the creative process.

Newly introduced to the gallery is Heather Neilson, an abstract painter whose work explores atmosphere, energy, and structure. Through the building and revealing of layered surfaces, she creates paintings that invite moments of grace, contemplation, and spaciousness. The work exists between expansiveness and grounding, and between light and dark.

Side by side, the disparate work of these two artists catches and holds the attention of the viewer in completely different ways. It is their palettes and the layering of color that draws the sensibilities of these artists together.
