About Jerry Bennett

Jerry Bennett's work explores form, texture, and pattern, as they interact with light in translucent porcelain. Using very thin high fired porcelain, each piece is individually hand-built, and painting the surface with engobes or colored clay, hand-painted and fired under a clear glaze.

By using fibers mixed with the wet porcelain, Bennet has been exploring very thin, highly textures surfaces.  This technique of paper or fiber clay, which has rarely been done, allows for many unique visual opportunities.  The challenge is to make modern objects that reflect this contrasting view of traditional forms with a unique material.

Jerry Bennett went to Southwest Missouri State University where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Art and then on to Indiana University where he earned a Master of Fine Art in Studio Ceramics. For the past fifty plus years he has made pottery on a daily basis.
