Blue Pail
Blue Pail is an original painting by David Eddy. In this semi-abstract, figurative work Eddy portrays a person with their hand in a blue pail. The predominant colors are blue, green, orange, and navy. Like many of Eddy’s paintings there is a child-like, naive quality, but the modeling of body position and the delightful complexity and subtlety of the whole speaks to deep insight, expert craftsmanship and uncompromising integrity; and quite a sense of humor and whimsy.
Eddy’s work is full of raw energy and emotion, fueled with a tension and sophistication of color, marks and composition. There is an obvious and seductive physicality to the paint process, with a complexity of texture and line. The artist's interest in exploring the relationship between abstraction and figuration is evident in each of his paintings, offering a very unique, very personal vision.
