Hudson Valley abstract painter Ted Dixon creates works that explore the space between color, memory, and perception, asking how we learn to see what is not immediately visible. Drawing on personal experience, his paintings invite viewers into a shared field of contemplation, evoking what he calls “abstract sensations”—moments of quiet, serenity, restlessness, or tension that linger beyond the image. A Black American artist and former graphic and web designer, Dixon brings a sensitivity to visual communication and restraint to his intimate, exploratory painting practice. His work has been exhibited throughout the Hudson Valley and Capital Region.
