Kiki Dufault was born in Washington, D.C. in 1974 and has been painting in oils for more than 35 years. She studied painting at the San Francisco Art Institute from 1992–1996, where she worked with painters Sam Tchakalian and Bruce McGaw, both influential figures within the Bay Area Movement. McGaw, a close friend and colleague of Richard Diebenkorn, became an important mentor to Dufault.

For more than two decades, Dufault has lived and worked in the Berkshires, where she raised her children while maintaining a multidisciplinary creative practice as a painter, musician, writer, performer and videographer.
Dufault’s paintings move fluidly between abstraction, landscape and the figure. Her work is rooted in an intuitive and highly physical engagement with paint, drawing upon a lifetime of looking, experimentation and accumulated knowledge of the medium.
