"Objective/Non-Objective" - New Work by Bart Arnold and Terry Wise

Lauren Clark Fine Art presents “Objective/Non-Objective”, new work by Bart Arnold and Terry Wise. The show runs from August 3 through August 28, with an opening reception Saturday, August 5, from 5-7pm.

Bart Arnold is perhaps best known as an abstract painter and jewelry artist whose work combines clean lines with complex textures, colors, and/or patinas. He established his style as a non-objective painter while living in New York and working toward his MFA at NYU and has been developing it for the past five decades. He also occasionally works in a “realist” mode, painting scenic mural commissions and making drawings and watercolors of scenes and objects.

Arnold’s non-objective work was exhibited in several galleries in the Los Angeles area where he lived for a few years, as well as others from Houston to Munich. Locally, he has shown at Simon’s Rock, Five Points Gallery, Spazi Fine Art, Tokonoma Gallery and the Shade Gallery in Lenox among others. Bart Arnold has had two solo shows with Lauren Clark Fine Art and exhibited in a number of group shows there. This is his first pairing with another artist in a two-person show.

Terry Wise has been represented by Lauren Clark since 2006. Wise began her studies of fine art at Indiana University, earning a BFA degree with a specialty in textile design, which included print design. Further lifelong studies have primarily been in painting and printmaking. She maintains a studio in Stockbridge, MA, in the culturally rich Berkshires, and exhibits throughout the northeastern states and beyond.

Her work is always recognizable and ever evolving, from her background in textiles and printmaking to fine art painting and back around again to printmaking and collage. Some of each of Wise’s varied approaches to objective works will be on view in this show.
